Gary Morris (Principal Investigator) is an Associate Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Valparaiso University. He received his Ph.D.
in Space Physics & Astronomy from Rice University. Gary has
studied ozone since 1992 and has developed and employed models of
atmospheric chemistry and dynamics extensively in his research.
Gary applied for and received funding from the Shell Center for
Sustainability and NASA to begin this experiment on ozone pollution
in Houston. He has now worked on over 400 baloon launches from 3 countries and 4 U.S. States.
Prof. Barry Lefer and Prof. Bernhard Rappenglueck serve as hosts of the project at the University of Houston.
Numerous UH students have worked on the project, including the following:
Ryan Perna (M.S. '07), Bridget Day (M.S. '08), Marc Taylor (Graduate student), Darryl Anderson, Shawna Boudreaux, Aaron Chow, Ricky Fuller, Nicole Grossberg, Matt Haworth, Leo Pedemonte, Denet Pernia.
The program has also worked with students from U. of Houston Downtown campus, including:
Maria McCormick, Rachid Tahri, and Julie Wright.
